Hip and Eye Guarantee

We guarantee the health of the hips and eyes of every dog purchased from Northern Plains Retrievers to be free from genetic defect to the age of 28 months.

If your pup is diagnosed with an eye problem that can only be hereditary as determined by the Canine Eye Registration Foundation (C.E.R.F.), we will replace it with a puppy from a comparable breeding or refund the purchase price at our discretion.  Your pup must be returned to Northern Plains Retrievers, complete with registration papers.  We will require all documentation from C.E.R.F.  You should get your dogs eyes examined by a canine ophthalmologist before one year of age.

If your dog is diagnosed with hip dysplasia by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (O.F.A.), we will replace your dog with a puppy from a comparable breeding at the earliest possible date, or refund the purchase price at our discretion.  We will require all documentation from O.F.A., and written verification from a veterinarian that your dog has been spayed or neutered.  You should have your dogs hips x-rayed and sent in at 24 months of age.  O.F.A. will be the sole judge of the health of your dog’s hips.

Dogs with problems found after turning 28 months old are not covered under this guarantee.  If the dog has been used to sire or whelp a litter before being examined, the guarantee is void.  This guarantee is valid only to the original purchaser of the dog.
